Carry-on travel backpacks, checked against airline size limits.
The Goodshelf Travel Desk covers carry-on travel backpacks and states carry-on fit in the terms an airline gate agent uses.
The beat
Why this desk covers this
Carry-on rules vary by airline and are enforced with a sizer, not a spec sheet. Bags bulge when packed, and brands measure them differently, some with straps and handles and some without. This beat needs an author who states fit the way the airline will check it.
Method
How we test
- List the brand's stated dimensions and capacity, and say whether they include wheels, handles, and straps.
- Compare dimensions with the published carry-on limits of named airlines, with a link and the date the limit was checked.
- Once we measure bags ourselves, show our measurement beside the brand's, with the method published first.
- Note empty weight, since some airlines also limit carry-on weight.
These sit on top of the rules every test we run follows: How we test.
