About this product

Tide PODS Free & Gentle are pre-measured laundry pacs made without dyes or perfumes. They are dermatologist tested and carry the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance, which is why they come up so often when people ask for a detergent that will not irritate sensitive skin.

Read the full description

Each pac dissolves in the wash, and they work in both high-efficiency (HE) and standard washers, in cold or warm water. Put the pac in the empty drum first, then add clothes on top. Do not put pacs in the detergent dispenser drawer.

Pacs are concentrated detergent, so they need to be stored safely. The tub has a child-resistant lid. Keep it closed, out of reach of children and pets, and never cut or puncture a pac.

When to choose something else

If you prefer to control the dose for small loads, or you pre-treat stains with liquid detergent, a liquid free and clear detergent gives you more flexibility than a fixed-dose pac.

Questions before you buy

Is Tide Free & Gentle good for sensitive skin and eczema?

It is made without dyes or perfumes, is dermatologist tested, and carries the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance, so it is a common choice for eczema-prone and sensitive skin.

Can I use Tide PODS Free & Gentle for baby clothes?

Yes. Many parents use free and clear detergents for baby clothes because they skip the dyes and perfumes that can irritate young skin.

Where do I put the pac in the washer?

Put the pac directly in the empty drum before adding clothes. Do not put it in the dispenser drawer, where it may not dissolve fully.

Do the pacs work in cold water?

Yes. The pacs are designed to dissolve and clean in cold as well as warm water, in both HE and standard washers.

Are laundry pacs safe to keep at home with kids?

Pacs are concentrated detergent and are dangerous if bitten or swallowed. Keep the child-resistant tub closed and stored up high or locked away from children and pets.

Does Free & Gentle leave any scent on clothes?

No added perfume is used, so clothes come out smelling clean rather than scented. If you want fragrance, this is not the right version.

How many loads does an 81 count tub wash?

One pac is meant for a normal load, so 81 pacs cover about 81 normal loads. Larger or heavily soiled loads may need more than one pac; follow the dosing guide on the tub.
